Temporary? Insanity

I have been inspired.

I know this is the sort of phrase that should be accompanied by triumphant music and multiple explanation marks, but really, I’m feeling a wee bit tired at the moment and not really up to all the fanfare. Suffice it to say, well…I already said it.

I’ve been reading a blog that I found through the blog roll on the blog of a friend of a blogging friend of mine (deep breath now), and I absolutely adore it. Said blogger is not only witty and charming, she’s actually intelligent, and kind enough to share her wisdom and knowledge with the world.

Being organized is an ideal of mine and has been for as long as I can remember. I love labelling and filing. I thrive on neatly ordered papers and having a place for everything and everything in its place, etc…

Alas, I have never achieved this ideal. Why, you ask? Because I’m a lazy slob and always have been. This is yet another element of my split personality. One half is lazy, the other is an obsessive compulsive perfectionist. Needless to say, the combination of these two attributes makes for a great deal of misery.

So I’m going to hold onto that feeling of “inspiration” (insert exclamation marks and fanfare as you so chose), and get organized. I’ve not yet decided if I will start with my sock drawer, my desk, or my kitchen cupboards…but I shall keep you aprised of my efforts, my successes, and even my failures. For those of you who are fortunate enough to be able to learn from the mistakes of others, I’m sure I can teach you a great deal. How’s that for a backhanded attempt at humility?

I am off to conquer the rampant disorganization besetting my house, and indeed, life!!!! (And there are the multiple exclamation marks you’ve been waiting for)
