Timing it Right

Once again the dishwasher had to be unloaded. Why is this always such a chore? I put it off till it’s absolutely necessary. There the dishwasher sits, full to the brim with sparkly clean dishes, and I hunker down in the living room, refusing to make eye contact.

What’s the technical term for fear of kitchen appliances? Applasialosis or something along those lines, I’m sure.

So last night I decided to face my fear. Despite exhaustion, a slight chill, and an understandable desire to cuddle up in bed with my new Maeve Binchy book, I cracked open the dishwasher door. Suddenly I caught sight of the clock on the stove. 8:40 it said. Well, not actually said, I mean, clocks don’t talk (I’m not -that- crazy)…

Anyway, I took note of the time, and then unloaded the dishwasher. Fast. With gusto even. Please note that this level of speed should not be attempted unless you have Corelle dishes.

Finish time? 8:43. I started laughing out loud. My dear sweet husband, who already has many reasons to worry about my sanity, poked his head around the corner with a slightly worried look on his face. I laughed harder. He looked even more worried. I explained, and he laughed as well…though more in that oooo-boy-what-a-weirdo kind of way, than in the oooo-how-hilarious! way that I was.

I’m wondering how long it would take me to scrub the bathroom…

On your mark, get set…

Too funny! Isn’t it amazing how we put things off that are so easy!

LOL! That was cute. So how long did it take you to clean the bathroom?
I think I have a phobia of folding clothes.

Kim, could you blog for me, too? ‘Cause I have done the EXACT same thing. Except it might have been closer to 9:00. And maybe I didn’t actually laugh out loud afterwards (though I think that’s a sign of happiness, not craziness). And I sure didn’t go clean the bathroom.

Okay, so maybe it wasn’t exactly the same, but I sure identified with your basic theme!
