Baby in Red

Ever since I dressed Becca for church this morning, I’ve had the song “Lady in Red” permeating my thoughts. It’s not a particular favourite of mine, but I once danced to it at a dance…with a boy I had a crush on, while wearing a red shirt! It was luverly, and I’ve had a certain connection to the song ever since.

I spent a good part of the day today enjoying my connection to my dear Rebecca Lynn. To the same degree that Emma is a Daddy’s girl, Becca is a Mommy’s girl. She lights up at the sight of me, and reaches up for me in the sweetest way.

And she has just learned how to give kisses! Rather messy, open-mouthed, and full of drool, but I enjoy every one.

I’m reminded of something Neil once told me. We didn’t come to this earth to be children, we have already learned that role. In raising children we come closer to understanding the nature and character of our Heavenly parents. In experiencing the unconditional love we have for our children, we in some part experience more fully their unconditional love for us.

I think it’s worth the sleepless nights, don’t you?

Hey Kimberly, you are looking really good!
She’s a cutie :) I danced to a guy with that song once too… *sigh*, but I don’t think I was wearing red.

Ah, a classic song. My hubby requested it for us (I WAS wearing red) at a wedding we attended 6 months after our own wedding. Memories…

She’s such a cute little peanut.

    You really are looking GREAT!!

Such a sweet baby you have. I love what you said (that Neil said) about learning to be parents — I hadn’t thought about it in quite those words. A good thought for the day! Thank-you.

Oh I love baby slobbery kisses. I’m just getting accustomed to the mother/daughter connection myself. There’s something special there. Maybe its the bond that comes from wearing dresses and tights.

    She’s so cute!!

Costco (if you get a chance to run to Kamloops soon) has the most gorgeous little girl christmas outfits right now. There’s one that would be perfect for her!

That is so sweet! Mine has figured out how to kiss with her lips closed now. She’s wearing makeup now too. Ah, they grow up so fast!
