Temporary? Insanity

Every Thursday night Neil and I go square dancing. This may seem like a strange choice for date night, but hey, what else are we going to do in a small town in the country. I was really hesitant at first, until Neil pointed out how much exercise we’d be getting. I figured it was worth any amount of embarrassment to get me up, moving, and losing pounds.

What really surprised me is how much I’ve been enjoying it. Swirling and bouncing and twirling, and being the youngest person in the room by at least twenty years, are a heady combination.

This week the night had a theme; “Murder and Mayhem”. Everyone dressed up in gruesome-ish costumes. There were pirates, gothic types, an escapee from a psycho ward, cowboys, and even a lady dressed up as Medusa! It was hilarious. If you didn’t follow the rules, you got put in jail! When a cowboy lady got caught and put in the cardboard jail, I snuck her horse over to her (the broomstick breed) and she made a break for it. It was silly but we all laughed our heads off.

Neil and I dressed as a Vampire and his all too willing victim. Neil had fun putting his arm around me whenever we promenaded and swishing his cloak around dramatically. Before we left to join the fun at the Senior’s Activity Centre, our friend Angela snapped a few shots of us goofing off.

I’m suddenly thinking I would’ve had a lot more fun in high school if I’d been a goth instead of a band geek!
