In Hindsight…(Edited!)

by Kym on February 22, 2007

I was rather bored when I looked at myself in the mirror this morning, and decided to do something about it. In hindsight, this may have not been the best of ideas. Now I know these aren’t the sort of before and after pictures you’ve gotten used to over the past week or so, as they’re meant to be cautionary rather than inspiring, but I thought they’d be good for a laugh.

Apparently you’re going to have to wait for your giggles though, because Blogger is experiencing technical difficulties of some sort. No, seriously, I’m not chickening out or anything. Really.

The best bit of the day though was when I pulled up in the parking lot of the community centre, ready to haul the kids inside for a delightful hour and a half of Kindergym excitement. I happened to glance at myself in the rearview mirror.

Another thing which, in hindsight, may not have been the best of my ideas.

I’d missed a spot. A great raggy lock of hair was hanging down into my bangs. Dead centre too. Not one of those wispy side bits that maybe were meant to look like that. Nope. Smack dab in the middle. I just about panicked.

Then I remembered that Neil keeps a knife in the glove box (but that’s another story). I hastily pulled it out and started sawing at the offending lock. I darted furtive glances out the car windows, praying that a) none of the other moms would see me and b) that Emma wouldn’t get any ideas which, in hinsight, she might regret.

Alas, you’ll have to wait for blogger to cooperate before you see can see just what I’m regretting.

It’s killing you, isn’t it?

There you go…the new and improved (?) Kim. They may be uneven. They may look like I hacked at them with a knife. But at least they hide my abnormally large forehead. I kid you not! Check out a photo of me just two months ago:
I was called Egg Head at school for more than one reason. =P Sweet Dreams everyone. I’m off to bed to have visions of good hair days dance in my head.

Yep, this is going to be good.

Did you ever see that youtube video of the bridezilla cutting her hair an hour before her wedding?

Is it on a par with that?!!!
Indeed, the suspense is killing me!

Oh my…I hope it wasn’t an anti-climax for you gals! ‘Cause it could’ve been worse…right? Please tell me it could’ve been worse! ~lol~

Turns out blogger isn’t the culprit, it’s my computer. I’m using hubby’s laptop right now and having no problems. Bee-zarr.

I went to bed dreaming of this.
Aww, c’mon!! You used a knife on your hair and that’s all you can show for? :D
You did good! I could never take scissors to my hair, it would turn out real bad.
This gives me an idea for a post (because lately all I can do is copy others). I’ll give you mad props Kimberly.

Wow Kim, your hair looks great! I love bangs, but I just can’t have them…my hair is too wispy and thin and so bangs go nuts. You did great!

I singed my very long hair last summer along with eyebrows and some of my eyelashes when I started the grill and it went PHHHHOOOOMMMP! and exploded. I don’t recommend trimming hair like that. Although, it did give me shaggy layers kind of like Jennifer Aniston.

First let me say, you have gorgeous skin.

I think you dodged a bullet. Your bangs do look cute. It definitely could have been worse. Why do women cut their own bangs when they are bored. I have to admit to having done it too.

Annie – You just made my year! There’s still a lot of the acne ridden awkward teen left in me. Feels lovely to hear I’m leaving that hideous chapter of my life behind me!

I’ve cut my bangs about a dozen times and regretted it every time. But I keep doing it. It’s a sickness. Yup.

I like the “new and improved” Kim. I go through cycles with bangs all the time. However, I think I have finally decided that my forehead is too large to not have bangs so I have kept them for the last five years. However, I do get tired of trimming them all the time.

A funny story on a side note. When I was in elementary school I was bored during family prayer and since their was a pair of scissors laying on the couch, I trimmed my bangs right then and there. They ended up about 1/2 an inch long – I kid you not. I then told everyone for the next few months as they were growing out that my sister butchered my hair. That feels great to get that lie off my chest now :)!!

So the moral of my side note is you did a great job, knife and all :)!! And I am sure you used a mirror where as I did not!
