Project #9 – Mud Room
by Kym on February 21, 2007
There are few things I wanted to do less today than organize and clean the Mud Room, but I said I would, so I did. Aren’t those rare moments when life is actually simple just lovely?
So here are the rather frightening before pictures. Yup. You can tell this was our dumping grounds, can’t you?
I tidied. I swept. I vacuumed. I scrubbed. And I even put a little thought into organizing the shelves. I put things like the first aid kit and Neil’s containers of “Misc. Items” on the top shelf so the girls can’t reach them down. And put heavier items on the bottom shelves to increase the stability of the shelving units.

Wow, look at you. The “after” pictures show a perfectly clean floor (I did check, just so you know).
Bravo.

It looks great! You are an inspiration! I even tided up a cluttered corner yesterday because of you! If we were not planning on moving in 6 months I’d be more proactive with my own ‘need to oraginize’ stuff. I do hope to declutter some things before we move anyway, maybe I’ll surprise meyself before this summer?! No promises, we’ll see how it goes.

NCS – Glad I didn’t go to all that effort for nuthin’. =P
Deanne – You have an awesome opportunity to declutter! Yay! Just pack stuff up, wait a few months, and if you didn’t need it, you can sell it at the garage sale. Hee hee!

I heard the returns cabinet idea from Lara the Lazy Organizer. I just wanted to tell you that I think you helped inspire me the last couple of days. Yesterday, I cleaned out my junk drawer and today, I did the under-the-stairs closet. I don’t have pics on my blog yet, bit I will soon!

That is some fancy pants, frou-frou food storage you got yourself there, Kimberly! Ours looks like generic labeled stuff that must have spilled out the back of the Wal-Mart truck when it turned the corner. Seriously. Our “Value Brand” boxes are all dented and funky. The soup cans have shredded labels. Good thing I’m hiding my own private stock of Beefaroni for when disaster strikes. They’ve been untouched by Infidel kid hands and remain pure and pristine.

(Annie breaks out into song)
“Did I ever tell you, you’re my hero and everything I wished I could be. I can fly higer than my ego, you are the wind beneath my wings.”

Wahoo! I can “see” your blog again!
Lovely after photos. You did a grand job, Kim! I need to get working on my house.
How goes the organizing of your life?

I have no idea why some random Spanish guy commented on my blog. Tres weird.
Tirzah – Your comment just made my day!
EWL – Only the coolest food storage products for us! ~lol~ I hide all that stuff in the upstairs pantry. It’s ginormous and I can close the doors on it.
Annie – Okay, I am just thrilled that you aren’t holding my skeptical nature against me! Seriously, I was worried! And why am I your hero? For doing the work or for being brave enough to admit to my adoring fans how hidesouly messy my house get? =P
Lucy – Thanks again! And I’m formulating ideas but haven’t actually done anything yet.
