The Big Girl Bed
by Kym on February 27, 2007
It’s been awhile since I last posted some before and after pics. We went crazy with reorganizing the house this weekend, but alas, I got so swept up in the flurry that I neglected to take pictures.
Fortunately I had a picture of Emma’s toddler bed kicking around, showing off the beautiful quilt that my best friend Dedee made for Emma. Sadly it’s time to pass it on to Becca as Emma graduates to her…
…big girl bed. I wasn’t able to talk Neil into the white four poster with canopy, but I’m very happy with the bunkbed we picked out at the local furniture store. It’s a twin on top and a double on the bottom, and for now Emma will sleep on the twin. Some day her and Becca will share the largest of the bedrooms (Becca’s) but for now Becca enjoys her respite from Emma’s “affections”.

Very nice! Those quilts are both beautiful. I love those colors.
We are trying to figure out how to work the sleeping arrangement in our apartment right now. Logan could sleep in his crib forever, but soon it will be time for his little brother to have it (yup, just had my ultrasound yesterday — it’s a boy!) I am tempted to skip the toddler bed altogether but I’m not sure how that would go over. (Or, if *Logan* would “go over” … the side of the bed in the middle of the night!)
Anyway. Too cute about the snuggles — that is really sweet.
(Also: Your comment on my blog got me excited for the mail!!!) (Exclamation points just for you!!)

My son just graduated to his ‘big bed’ a few weeks ago (I assume you saw the post). He loves his new bed. In a way he got a little smaller…since the twin bed pretty much swallows him up! So I guess in that respect it’s a good change. hee hee I must have paid less for Caleb’s bed than you did for Emma’s….snuggles not included. Darn! : )

Those are such lovely quilts.
I am glad that Emma’s new bed has been such a positive change for everyone!

We’re working the bunk bed thing. Make that bunk beds with an additional trundle underneath. We be stacking our kids floor to ceiling like warehouse merchandise. I prefer quilts to any of the licensed character bedspreads any day. Quilts will grow with a child and never go out of style. I made a lazy quilt for my toddler, Melody, out of a mermaid fabric. She never goes anywhere without it.

Those quilts are gorgeous! I absolutely love quilts of all kinds. That transition to the big girl bed is so huge. You are doing such a great job with all your organizing projects.

Beth – not traditional little girl but I love the colours too!
Deanne – Yup, saw the post. And check the fine print next time!
Lucy – Thanks!
EWBL – We almost bought the trundle but resisted. And I can’t stand character themes. Except Winnie the Pooh. I could handle Winnie the Pooh.
Kim – Quilts have a special place in my heart because of my best gal pal Dedee. =)

I love the quilts, too. I recognize the pattern on the bottom one because it’s one I’ve always wanted to try. :)

Definitely makes me want to learn how to sew!
Snuggles are the currency which I, as a mother, hope to be paid in.
