I’m Number One!
by Kym on April 30, 2007
And for once I’m not just being my usual egomanical self – I really am number one, see? I nabbed this group picture of the bloggy lunch from Millie. Aren’t we pretty? I mean, NCS was rather startling looking, and Carrotjello was a disturbing shade of orange, but other than that, we’re a pretty stunning group, wouldn’t you say?
1. Me! 2. Lucy of An Ordinary Mom 3. Eve of Good Enough 4. Carrotjello of Oinkle Doinkle 5. Jenny of Absolutely Bananas 6. Carronin of Carronin’s Do’s and Don’ts 7. Annie of Hot Fruita Moms 8. Kathryn of Daring Young Mom 9. NCS of More Cowbell 10. Millie of Thoroughly Mormon Millie
Some of those are real names, some not so much. I know all their real ones! Neener neener neeeeener!
Bella had to leave us early so I don’t get to show off how incredibly cute she is.
As always is the situation when visiting at a restaurant, we got to know one half of the table better than the other. I was seated across the effervescent Kathryn, who provided the entertainment, in the form of a fun game and her sparkling wit. She’s not just a crack up though, she’s a sweetheart too. I have new socks to prove it.
Annie and Carronin were the furthest from me, so I had to be content to admire their beauty from afar. Aren’t they spectacular looking? Wish I’d come from that gene pool!
Millie is an absolute darling, and I’m seriously smitten with her. I thought I’d be too in awe of her to get to know her at all, but she’s such a “real” person, do you know what I mean? The kind of gal pal I can imagine chatting away to for hours at a time. She’s at least as funny in person as she is on her blog, and so sweet and nice!
The one gal I did talk to for hours it seemed, was Lucy. I was so lucky to be able to carpool with her, and visit with her family afterwards before Neil and I finally had to tear ourselves away if we were going to make it to the Temple before dark. I just love her! I lamented to Neil when we got into the car, “Why do all the most fabulous people live soooo far away?!”
I was so sad not to be sitting closer to Carrotjello! She’s not a fan of sharing her picture, which is a shame, because I think she’s the cutest! There was something about her that made me feel like I could tell her anything and be accepted despite. She came aross as genuine and thoughtful, and so terrifically sweet.
NCS was one of the biggest shocks to me. She’s so much prettier in person! Gorgeous even! And with this sweetness of spirit that made me want to hug her the second I saw her. And she made my year by complimenting my skin! I had pizza face all through high school, so that meant sooooo much to me.
Eve has this bubbly-ness to her that’s just contagious. She had me giggling like mad all through the afternoon. I only encountered her blog a short time before the lunch, and can’t wait to delve into it further.
Bella and Jenny sat on either side of me, but I probably talked to them the least, which is so bizarre. Bella struck me as one of those initially shy types with a big personality and quirky sense of humour that you don’t get to discover right away. I wish she could’ve stayed longer! And Jenny was hilarious and down to earth. I can’t wait to check out their blogs!
Anyway, more later! I’m so far behind on…well, on everything. We splurged like mad and there’s so much to unpack and organize. And so many blog posts to read on and comment on.
I’m number one!

You are a total sweetheart. I still can’t believe you paid for everyone’s lunch.
YES! I said it! She paid for our lunch, everyone!!!!!!
Thank you. It was so lovely and I just finished eating the second half of my Kim-bought sandwich. ;) And I’m about hip-deep in Eight Cousins. Love that Louisa May.
Thank you also for the kind words. You are too nice. :) Hopefully we’ll get another chance to meet again!
P.S. How did your numbers show up and mine didn’t???

Millie: Hey, tell the whole world if you want. Didn’t I tell you I did it for the glory? =P Your numbers didn’t show? Funny, I could see them when I looked at your site. Weirdness!
Heather: I’ve been envying bloggers who get to meet each other for ages now, it was so fun! And no one was a scary ugly man or anything!

What about me? I sat here watching your blog to make sure it didn’t boil. You know, because a watched blog doesn’t boil.
So, yoooouuurr’e the big spender. Huh. Now I won’t be happy until you buy me a sandwich too.

You are number one! And why did you have to leave so quickly?!? Maybe because I talked too much and didn’t let you get many words in :) !!
When are you coming back? I now need at least a quarterly Kim dosage. Maybe we will need to take a family vacation up to your area.
Thanks again for lunch. My non-seafood lunch was spiffin good! You are a sweetheart!
Did I use enough !!!?!?!

I’m still wondering what you did with all that left over money from lunch. There must have been about 9,900 left from what I figger. ;)

Thanks again. No, you are the best. I wish we could have talked more. Our next bloggy event will need to be longer.

NĂºmero Uno!! W00T!!
An ordinary Mom totally lucked out driving around with you.
I say next time we take longer, becuase all that driving, not resting and much eating can’t be good for old folks like me.
I’m declaring “Best Skin” ever.

It was great to see you though we didn’t get to talk much. I would say you get the most generous blogger award. My boss would have fired me if I had paid for everyones lunch. You must have a very understanding hubby. Thanks again.
