Off Into the Wild Grey Yonder…

by Kym on April 27, 2007

I just can’t call it blue today. It’s one of those deliciously grey shadowy days, where the clouds form variegated patterns that shift in disturbing ways. There’s a brisk wind rustling through the pine trees which ensconce our house, and I’m smiling and enjoying the ominosity (new word alert) of it all.

The girls are sleeping, and I’m pretending that I don’t have anything more to do before we leave for our trip this weekend. I love my imagination. It’s such a comfort to me when I’m seeking to avoid the inevitable.

So we’re driving down to Vancouver to visit my family this weekend, and also to pop across the border on Saturday so I can meet a group of gals I’ve long adored from afar. Most of them are in my sidebar…Annie, An Ordinary Mom, Carrotjello, Carronin, Millie, No Cool Story, The Daring One, and Eve and Bella who I’ve only recently encountered in the bloggisphere.

I’m in something akin to a state of shock that this is actually happening. I’ve been doing weird things like shaving my legs, painting my toenails, and moisturizing my feet. Even though I’m going to be wearing jeans. And socks. And shoes.

Gals, I think I’ve finally lost it.

I’m torn between feelings of excitement and sheer panic.

If still (moderately) sane, I will report back on Monday.

A few prayers probably couldn’t hurt.

Don’t make yourself look too glamorous, you will make me look bad :)!! And there is no way I am shaving my legs to wear jeans. Once a week is enough for me.

I can’t wait! In less than 24 hours I will meet the infamous Kim!

How totally and completely cool is it that you get to meet blog friends in real life!!! I’m envious (in a good way!). Yes, be sure to tell us all about it (and take pics, if you can). Oh, yah, and have a good rest of the weekend with your family too. :)

if you’re wearing your new jeans, wear them with some cute flats, like they have in the picture. and if you think you need help with fashion, watch TLC’s What Not to Wear. i love that show. anything i know about fashion i learned from stacy and clinton….
be safe, have a fun time, and i’ll look forward to reading all of your blogs when you all get back monday. and i’m in the south (texas) so if the southern people want to get together we should do it…

Don’t panic! Isn’t that the main bit of advice in those Hitchhiker’s Guide to the Galaxy books I read in high school? Anyway, have bunches of fun! Can’t wait to hear all about it.

When I was young (in blogging)
I never needed anyone
And blogging was just for fun
Those days are gone

All by myyyyssseelllf
Don’t wanna blog
All by myyyyssseeelllf
Anymore

Me sad. Where can I turn to sate my attention whorish ways now with everyone gone. Huh?

(((((KIM)))))

You are so much fun and so cute. It was great to meet you and hang out in beautiful Seattle for a while with you and all the girls. I had such a great time at lunch and wish I’d peeked under your pant leg so I could see your nice shaved legs.

;) OK, not really. But it was fun!

P.S. Bella is absolutely beside herself with joy about the books. She kept thanking me. Boy, that was an easy way to get in good with her. ;)

Kara: Thanks!
PJ: Awww…what’s wrong with those southerners? You’ve gotta convert ‘em to blogging!
Chick: Thanks!
Terina: I hear next year it’s going to be in Houston. =) I miss TLC! Stupid basic cable!
Nic/Grateful: Thanks muchly!
Chris: Love those books!
EWBL: Does it help that we missed you desperately?
Kate: It sure was!
Kathleen: It was wonderful!
Millie: You can check out my legs anytime. =P Don’t tell the other gals, but you were my favouritest. Probably the extra bond of being bathroom buddies. What was with those freakishly short doors?? So glad she’s lovin’ the books, heh, and I didn’t even know her b-day was coming up. Now that’s serendipity for you.
