Starting Over
by Kym on April 14, 2007
With the new blog title and look, comes a new Kim. Yes, yes, I know how much you all adored the old Kim, but really…this will be good.
Trust me.
If you click the title link of this post, it’ll take you over to Lara’s Smart Habit Saturday post. Once upon a time, I was one of SHS’s strongest followers (don’t you love how modest I am?). But I got a wee bit overwhelmed by life and, rather moronically, ditched SHS because I was tired and panicky and didn’t want to take the time.
Not only was this a poorly thought out on-a-whim decision, but there’s a wee touch of irony to the situation.
I have way less time than before. My life has lost cohesion. The structure of it has suffered a serious, possibly crippling blow. And so, I, the prodigal daughter, am returning to the SHS fold.
I’m starting from scratch here, because that’s all I’ve got. I’m going to spend my weekend scribbling notes about what I want to achieve on a daily, weekly, and monthly basis. And I’m not going to accidentally-on-purpose lose my notes, shrug, and say, “Oh well.” Not this time. I’m going to type them up, print them out, and hang them on my fridge.
I’ve enjoyed my household organizing projects, but this time I’m tackling a different sort; I’m going to organize my life.
And you, dear friends, get to watch me. I’m going to lay it all out for you here, nothing hidden. And I’m going to tell you everything I’m doing to try to conquer my disorganized life. And I’m going to keep starting sentences with “And” apparently. My High School English teacher would roll over in her grave. If she weren’t happily retired to Florida, that is.
Perhaps this is madness. Perhaps I’m taking on too much in one go. But I’m tired of shuffling my feet and dreaming but never planning, or planning and never doing.
I don’t know if this makes any sense. But given my spiffy new blog title, what do you expect?
I shall report back on Monday, having tamed at least some small part of the chaos that is my life.
Or maybe not.
‘Cause I’m unpredictable and unreliable like that. ~sigh~

At least you’re reasonable about the chaos-taming. :-)
And I would be honored for you to link over to LDS-Palooooooza. Perhaps we’ll need to start an ongoing party. :-)

Done. I’ve been meaning to put some church links up for ages, thanks for the gentle kick in the pants. =P

You go girl! And me too. I need to make some serious changes and I started today. Instead of working on Kate’s closet this afternoon I took the time to get the house cleaned up and mopped so I won’t be grumpy on the Sabath from living in a dirty house. I feel better already!
Let us know how your planning goes. I want to hear every detail.

It’s ok to start over! Sometimes a fresh look and a new start can do wonders. Good luck with all your planning Kimberly!

I went through the ‘type everything up and post it on the fridge’ thing not to long ago. The list is still there but with many things crossed off all ready. Good luck!

Smart Habits?
It’s about time they made sensible attire for nuns with more breathable fabrics and some nifty little ventilation holes in the pits. A non-sweaty nun is a happy nun.

Happy Square Dance in progress … I am so thrilled to see you back on the bandwagon! Sometimes life gets the best of us, but you are strong Kim and you can do it! I am excited to see the new typed list your fridge is going to boast. Hang in there, we are all here to encourage you!

Lara – I’m actually feeling really excited and energized about it all. You probably won’t be able to get me to shush up about it.
Michelle – Thanks for the encouragement!
Montserrat – Glad to know it’s worked for someone else – thanks!
EWBL – You know…totally bizarre, but I’ve actually had that thought before!
Lucy – Thanks! I think it’s going to be really good for me. Just like friends like you are! Corny but true, eh?

I feel the same a lot of the time. Can’t wait to hear how things go.

Lauren – One load at a time, babe, one load at a time!
Julie – No thanks needed…I only read blogs that I enjoy ’cause I’m selfish like that. =P
Thea – Recognizing is one of the trickier parts isn’t it? Thanks!
Carrot – I dunno…my photo debt to you gals is already pretty ginormous. Anyone who wants to come see it in person is welcome. I is lonely!
Andrea – Me neither! ~Lol~

I like the new look and the new name, even though it wasn’t mine. I’m getting chocolate anyway! Hooray for me and for you for being such a go-getter!

Just found your blog–looks fun! Good luck with your home. I am drowning in clutter and ready for a change.
My husband’s family lived in Issaquah for 20 years–know a Dot and Wayne with 8 kids?

Believe me I know how you feel. Things are feeling a little overwhelmed for me too and I need to get it together. It sounds like you are on the right track.

Good luck with this week. I often have to re-look at my life and start over as well! I am pulling for you and know you can do it! Just keep on keeping on!

Compulsive Writer – I’m going!
Annie – I may be giving you the chocolate in person! Whoohoo!
Laura – I’m figuring out I’ve got to do the basic boring stuff before I can move on to the interesting stuff. Obvious, n’est-ce pas, but it’s taken me 28 years to get a clue.
OPC – It’s going great so far! Thanks for the support!

Congrats on realizing this at 28. I’m 42 and still feel like you described most of the time. All the best, take it a step at a time.
