Suck it Up!

Neil relented! In that typical way of his, that says he’s letting me have my way for the sake of letting me have my way, NOT because I actually persuaded him or anything. Heaven forbid!

I am definitely sold on the idea of a Dyson, but Neil balked at that. He said we can get one when we replace the cheap twenty year old carpets in this place with something new.

So we’re going with the Bissell Momentum, because it’s on sale at Sears, and after 53 reviews at Amazon.com it still has a five star rating.

Granted, I’d be much more excited if something spiffier were headed my way from Sears’ order department, but at this point, I just want to get the bits of various snackfoods out of my carpet.

We have a carpeted dining room. And we have two tots. Beyond cruel, I know.

Did you know that grated cheddar cheese gets quite sharp when it shrivels up?

Sadly, I was aware of that. :)

I’m not surprise about the cheese. Also, mac ‘n cheese is no joy to step on either (wet or dry!).

Congrats on the consent for a new sucker-upper! :)

Ugh, we have carpeted dining area too, whoever thought that up needs to be smacked! And our vacuum belt just broke and the replacement I got doesn’t fit :( My floor is such a mess. I so wish I could get a Dyson too, but a $400 vacuum is just not in our budget right now.

We have carpet in our dining room too, but luckily our kitchen is big enough to barely cram the table in there. The thought of trying to get squished Ramen noodles out of our shag carpet just doesn’t sit well with me.

Yahoo! Can’t say I blame him for balking at the Dyson… I balked at the Dyson, even if it does work well. Just not even close to budget-worthy.

I can’t wait to get rid of carpeted dining rooms. What were the builders thinking?

Congrats on the new purchase. I am excited to see how it sucks :)!!

We just had our carpets cleaned today. It’s just a matter of time before they’re gross again. Isn’t that affirming?

You know, you’re right about the dried-up cheese thing. What I hate is when I’m trying to scrape a stuck-on piece of cheese off something and it goes directly under my fingernail… YOWWWWWW

No, it’s cheese news to me. Definitely.

Our house came with carpet……in the frickin bathroom! It was the first time we’d ever bought a new house and didn’t realize the grevity of the situation. We turned the brand spanking new bathroom from SNAP! to CRAP! in record time.

Oh, congratulations on the new super sucker entering your life. Have you guys picked out a name yet? Will you host a shower? I’ll send some tropical carpet powder as a gift.

yup. i sure did. i have hard wood floors in my entire house except for the bathrooms which have crappy linolium. but its an army house, and this house has been here since the 1920’s. hard wood is not much better. i guess it’s because i hate mopping. with two small children, its almost pointless….

Okay, so you must tell us how it works. I checked it out after you wrote about it, and you may have just changed my mind for me. It’s in the right price range for what I can afford right now, and though it’s not a canister vac, it sounds really good. Let me know how it works on carpet, and if you try it on your kitchen floor.

I’m another one very familiar with hardened cheese and other food particles under the dining room table! I actually kind of like the ease of just vacuuming it up (I am not a sweeper or a mopper).

Except sometimes the vacuum seems to launch the offending dried food into my legs instead of sucking it up. Feels like shrapnel.

Yay for new vaccuums! I told my DH I want a dyson next time, too. Our 7 year old Hoover that we bought when we got married is still working well enough to avoid replacement for now. Good thing since we are saving for a new furnace and fridge. (I want one w/ ice & water dispencers in the door like the one we left in our old house.)

But did you tell him The Hot Fruita Mom has one? That always seems to be the clincher!
