Hope
by Kym on June 25, 2007
What a wonderful gift of hope our family was given this morning! Mom woke up, and not only did she focus on us, but she was able to respond to commands, and answer yes/no questions by shaking and nodding her head. This is a huge leap from yesterday, and I was tearfull with relief. To be able to tell her what was happening, to tell her how much I love her, and to see it acknowledged in her eyes, was such a blessing after these stress filled days.
As acceptance of the current situation comes, so does the reeling blow of realizing how long a recovery process she’s likely to have. Months. Such a frightening word suddenly; months. And yet, I’m grateful that we’ll have those months, and the years to come afterwards. Having been overwhelmed by fear and heartache, I would be ungrateful if I didn’t acknowledge the blessing that is Hope.

I am very behind and quite late on lending any prayers but you get them from hereonout.
How frightening. I am so glad there’s a wonderful piece to such scary moments before. Here’s to the recovery being much quicker than anticipated and the source being found soon.
Many prayers and hugs to your family.

So what do they think is going on with her? Any ideas at all???
So happy things are looking up, that recovery is coming :)
—I’ve been meaning to tell you, I love your little current weight thingy. I like how it says ‘current height’–I soooo wish I could just grow about 4 inches. Then my weight would match my height :)—

The diagnosis they’re hoping to confirm is viral encephalitis…a pretty serious case. =( But curable, thank heaven.

That is great news. I hope that her recovery will be quicker than anticipated. Even though this was a huge stress for you, I think it is a blessing that you are able to appreciate more fully that you have your mother in your life and that you have a good relationship with her.
I am sure you will have many continued prayers for her swift recovery.

I’m grateful for your hope. I’m glad that there’s an end in sight, even though it seems very far away right now. Beautiful post, though. I’ll keep you both in my prayers.

Oh! I so wish I had seen this last night! What an AMAZING gift . . . I’m glad she woke up before you needed to be back home.
I’ll continue to keep the situation close to my heart and prayers. I’m glad they’re working towards a diagnosis that has a recovery prognosis (albeit a long one)! *HUGS*

I’m glad she’s doing better. My mom got sick when I was in high school, so I know how hard it is to see your mom be sick. I also understand the months and months of recovery… Good luck and lots of e-support.

I’ve been offline for a while due to the untimely demise of my previous computer (is a computer demise ever timely??). Anyway, your family is in my prayers, and I’m thrilled to read your mom is doing better. I also LOVE your new look! I’ll be seeing you. Or reading you?
