Achoo!
by Kym on December 18, 2007
Me: ~honkschnerflblat!~
Emma: Wow Mommy! You a good sneezer! You faster than Daddy!
Me: Umm, thank you. (feeling oddly pleased at having trumped Neil at something)
Becca (conveying her feelings with a mere look): Keep that kleenex away from me, you psycho.
Assuming I don’t die during the course of it, today looks to be an interesting day. Scratch that. My keeling over would make it extra interesting, wouldn’t it?
In Other News:
1) Our financing for the house has been approved. We have the down payment ready. Now we just have to save up for replacing the basement flooring, painting, etc. We may be putting a small dent in these savings by paying for express post delivery of certain Christmas packages which are staring at us rather accusingly right now. Maybe it’s my low grade fever talking but it really does feel like they’re staring at me.
2) I coughed so hard this morning I think I bruised a rib.
3) Neil threw his back out yesterday so now the parenting duo in our home consists of an invalid and a cripple. Congratulations Emma and Becca, you win.
4) I am really, really tired of feeling so pathetic. I once knew a lady who, while dying of cancer, smiled broadly at everyone who came to visit her and joked that at least she was finally getting skinny. I’d like to be that kind of person, you know? Well, maybe not once I really think about it and what sort of suffering you have to endure to become that strong, but it does weigh on my mind a bit.
5) I can’t think of a number five but I didn’t want to end on four for some reason.

Oh dear invalid and cripple: may you get better real soon. Someone must pry the control back from the wee ones.
Hope you are better soon.
Now rest rest rest.

You funny girl!

Is that you or the cold meds talking?

Even while sick, you write well. I hate to suggest a certain drug to ease your troubled body, but I was recently sick with something very similar to what you’re describing. Go ahead and feel sorry for yourself because it does a number on you!
I finally stopped balking at the priced and bought some Musinex, and guess what? It actually worked. Within a day I was feeling great, by day three (just for good measure) I was completely better.

rest. shhhh shhhh…
(but congrats on the financing coming through…)
You’ll feel better soon. Or the girls will have completely taken over the house and be ruling as benevolent dictators.

Kim, you are great. Even in your illness you make me laugh out loud.
Serious. I was LOLing at this one:
3) Neil threw his back out yesterday so now the parenting duo in our home consists of an invalid and a cripple. Congratulations Emma and Becca, you win.
And this, too:
Emma: Wow Mommy! You a good sneezer! You faster than Daddy!
Me: Umm, thank you. (feeling oddly pleased at having trumped Neil at something)
(I would probably feel the same way, and then brag to my hubby about it when he got home.) :-)
I have been a neglectful commenter lately and beg your forgiveness. I have discovered Google Reader’s capability to “star” posts I want to come back to later, which I thought was a good feature, except that I keep forgetting to go back to the starred things and now you think I am a crummy bloggybuddy. I always appreciate your quick comments on my blog (THANKS!) so I should probably step it up, huh.
ANYWAY, get well soon!! I’m so sorry you’re sick; it’s the pits.
But congrats on your house! (Ugh, why am I so behind on my commenting??? Maybe the length of this comment will make up for it?)

You and my SIL would clash… she has to end on even numbers. Just a tad OCD about it…
I’m so sorry you’re still sick. I just read a thing about putting Vicks vapor rub on your feet and then putting socks on… my mom used to do it to us as kids and it seemed to help. Now they’ve done a study that talks about the benefit of it… hey, what have you got to loose??
::uploading Vicks and chicken soup:: (not mixed together… EWWW!)

five is powerful. you will become well more quickly because you ended on five. you may actually find yourself conquering a here-to-fore undiscovered island tomorrow, simply because of the fifth.

I hope you feel better honey.

I hope you feel better very soon! *HUGS* And big congrats on the financing coming through! :) *does happy dance for you*
I hope I can be like the woman you described in #4 . . . she sounds like the kind of person who I hope I will be when I grow up! :)
and #3 made me giggle . . .
Give the girls huggles from their Auntie Kate! :)

I hope you both feel better soon!!
I liked the line about the girls winning. When we triumph over one of our kids (actually getting them diapered and dressed for bed) we say “Parents win!!”.

Congratulations on the financing! One more step (more like Goliath step) towards Flat Driveway Land!
You know what I do when I’m sick? Don’t tell, but I break out the movies the kids haven’t seen for a while and let their eyes glaze over so I can die in my bed for awhile.
Get better soon!

I love that you ended on #5.
I’d suggest you take it really easy and get lots of sleep, but I know you have two little energetic kidlets, so that idea is just plain silly.

Yay – financing for house! Boo – sh*tty cold and feeling blah. When I was pregnant with #1, I cracked a rib coughing. Fun, fun times.
I hope the new year brings you a reprieve from your blah feelings. You really are fabulous, you know.

I was just thinking, it would be nice if someone would invent an abs workout video that involved coughing, because my abs MUST be in better shape after a week of hacking.
Hope you’re feeling better soon.

Praying for you and Neil that you get well soon-and that the chillin’s are no worse off because of it!

And YAY about your financing!! Les and I already said we can give you a hand-make that four-to help you move!

by Erin on December 19, 2007 at 6:52 am. #
I would have stopped at four but only because I seem to be partial to even numbers :o)
Congrats on the house, I’m sooooo happy for you guys.
I hope you and the cripple feel better soon.

I have had terrible bouts of bronchitis in recent years so I can relate to your misery. Especially at night. I never bruised a rib but am queen of cough-’til-you-puke. LOVELY.
Get feeling better!

Oh dear! Feel better soon. We can’t let the children win!

You are a lovely batch of pathetic-ness. You make me laugh. Love to you and hope you get better.
(Loved the sneeze comment!)

Poor thing! And I had all the sympathy and healing vibes in the world for you, too, until you came over to my site and got me sick! Why’d you have to go and do that? I know Christmas is the season of giving, but come on! Sometimes sharing is NOT caring!
But I do hope you feel better.
by Avery Gray on December 19, 2007 at 6:21 pm. #
you two need to see a chiropractor! i’ll bet you anything that you put a rib out with all that coughing, and neil’s situation is obvious. wish you could come see my hubby. he’d fix you up nice.
get well soon. great news on the house.
by Michal on December 19, 2007 at 11:21 pm. #
I hope you’re both feeling better. I had no idea you were such a talented sneezer. That’s something to be proud of. I love it when I use my credit card and the reader says, “Good Swipe.” It makes me feel so good about myself!
by The Lazy Organizer on December 20, 2007 at 4:41 am. #
i hope you’re feeling better soon :(
the four of us are fighting something off here too. Carlos brought a cold home from work…how thoughtful! anyway, the boys are sneezing and coughing all night, i can’t breathe, Carlos looks like he’s going to collapse any minute (he will never admit when he’s sick, so he tries to do everything as usual, and almost kills himself in the process!). but, we usually all get a cold from the Christmas gatherings back home, and come back to Ottawa on death’s door. maybe we’re going to get it out of the way BEFORE the holidays this year!
hope you’re gonna be all better for Christmas!
