Random Weirdness
by Kym on January 26, 2008
Last night, the phone range.
Me: Hello?
Automated Voice: I’m sorry. That is an invalid response.
Don’t you love those moments when you realize that yes, you do possess above average intelligence?
I had the weirdest dream last night. Now, I know that’s a standard thing to say when sharing a weird dream, but I mean it quite sincerely. I have never had so weird a dream before in all my life.
I dreamed I was back in high school, and that our school had a very prestigious football team. Our boys were given nothing but the best, including a hot tub, sauna, and personal masseuse. Guess who the masseuse was?
Yup.
And, most of the members of the team? Were gay. I’d give ‘em a good rub down though, and they’d get this wild look in the eyes and run away. Apparently? I’m that good.
All the while this was going on? My dead grandfather was sitting next to me. He spent most of the time scrutinizing the sauna. He’s Norwegian you see, and they’re big on that sort of thing (this bit is true to life). He had even built a sauna in the basement of his house. After he died my Uncle knocked it out to give my Grandma a bigger kitchen in her new basement suite.
The grandpa in my dream was a little bitter about this. I’m not sure exactly what he had to say about the subject, as he tends to mutter. So yes, that was my dream. Massaging gay footballers while keeping company with my dead Norwegian sauna loving grandfather.
Now, on the agenda for today? Becca’s birthday party. Packing to go away to a conference tomorrow (without the kids – wheeee!), and preparing the house for the babysitter to sleep over. See you all Monday!

Now THAT is a dream to have analyzed. Where is Joseph in Egypt when we need him to interpret? Or Lehi?
I’ve started several interpretations myself, only to go back and delete. They always go toward the Freudian…
Good think I wasn’t the one interpreting Lehi’s dream, eh?

I am the queen of bizarre dreams. Though they’ve gotten less wacky since having kids. But just the other night I spent hours climbing through prehistoric caves evading velociraptors and t-rexes.

I had a weird dream last night too.
Perhaps your mind in your dream made the guys gay because that would be more “okay” because your subconscious realized that you’re married to Neil. Straight football guys would have been more of a problem! I’ve had a few of those types of dreams where something happened to explain that kind of behavior. I almost wrote that word, ‘behaviour’. I think you’re rubbing off on me!
Have fun at the conference and Becca’s party! I’d love to see pictures if you post some.

I’LL have a crack at analyzing it.
after stressing out over the whole iced-flowers thing, you fear if you can, really, face the world. the footballers? all male versions of yourself, hence, they are not gay, they just like men. and the massaging, well that’s just your inner child wanting something to do with your hands. satisfy that need, kim, get some legos.
okay, the grandpa. what he was *trying* to tell you is that although he was sad he can’t be with your grandma anymore, it is *okay* to turn boys’ toys into girls’ toys, ie the kitchen that was a sauna. he is encouraging you to turn something of neil’s into something of yours. i suggest you start small, like a sock. turn one of neil’s socks into a purse for you. you’ll feel better about yourself in the long run.
so if you get the legos, you will give *yourself* the confidence to face the world. then, you’ll have a stylish sock-purse with which to shop.
see? easy when you know how.

That really is one crazy dream. Maybe you dreamed about being a masseuse because you were in desperate need of a hand massage?
Enjoy your child-free weekend!

A conference…without kids? Wheeeee! And I am soooo sharing your dream with my hubby. He always mocks me for how whacked out mine are. Good to know I’m in good company. :-)

One of my weirdest dreams was that my leg hair had grown so long that I could braid it and put beads on it.
Yeah.
And I hate getting the house ready for babysitters.
But have fun on your trip!!

Yep, that’s weird! Everyone has them, right? I had one when I was really little where my jeans were talking to me from the wall. Scary.

That is one crazy dream. Am I to take it you were trying to get them to join the other team?

Hope the birthday went well and the conference too.
I’ll get Mr Freud to analyse this dream. I think he’ll say it means you must never stop blogging because we have far too much fun reading your posts!

Thanks. I’m relieved to know there’s someone whose dreams make mine look absolutely tame.

Hmmm… that’s a pretty good one… so, the dream means that you should probably not have contact with any football players… and … um… you’re supposed to have a sauna in your new house ;)
