Tour of the New House – Part One

by Kym on March 31, 2008

I haven’t managed to post anything of much import lately. My writing has consisted of whingeing and whining, and pictures in place of meaningful communication.

I see no reason for this to change anytime soon (I’m in the process of moving, after all), so I’m taking you on a tour of the new house. Unfortunately my camera batteries died after just ten minutes, so I only have a small sampling of the main floor to delight you with for the moment.

The front door, which unfortunately comes right into the kitchen. Ah well, good motivation to keep it clean, I suppose:

A shot of the bathtub in the main bathroom. It’s a rather odd set up, making installing a shower impossibly complicated:

Becca’s Room:

Emma’s Room:

The fireplace in the sunken living room:

The dining area off the kitchen:

A peek at the upstairs loft, where our office will be:

A view of the kitchen area from the sunken living room:

The reason we bought this place – those beautiful windows and the view from them:

The reason we sometimes shake our heads and wonder were we crazy to take this on…the sunken living room with built in furniture, hideously patterned cushions (with orange shag carpet underneath them!):

Still, we love it, and are going to have fun settling in over this next month. House warming party to be held in early May. Come on up!

Stay tuned for sneak peeks at the other two floors and possibly the exterior/yard as well. Yes, I’m that good to you.

Oh my goodness Kimberly, I have been surfing blog pages and have been reading your blog and then read that you are from 100 Mile House! I have been in 100 Mile House often. My daughter lives in 108 Mile Ranch and she teaches at 100 Mile Elementary School. I wish you well in your new home.

Ooooh, I love those big windows and pretty views!! Wow! That will prove to be an immediate mood-lifter, I bet. One of the things I do like about our place now is the big window in the living room that looks straight into a tree — in the summer it feels like I’m in a treehouse … and it makes me happy!

Love the loft and the vaulted ceilings, too!

WHEEEE! I just love all the windows…it’s so open and light and airy. And don’t forget to show views outside!

Yay! Look at all those lovely windows! What a great spot! And a little bit of new fabric and that sunken living room could be stunning!

Just warning you, the last time a bloggy friend “invited” me to a her housewarming party, I showed up : )

Have fun settling in. Always an adventure.

There’s gotta be a way to slipcover those couch cushions… I’m sure you’ll find something!!
The house is amazing. I’m not at all jealous that you have hard wood floors… not at all… nope… ::sniff::

Yay for pics of the new digs! Can’t wait to see more and what you do to decorate! :)
Unfortunately the housewarming party is out for us . . . but let us know what kind of things you need to help “spruce” and we’ll see what we can do to help! :)

Congrats on your new house! What fun to paint, decorate and call it home! I look forward to seeing how you transform it into your own. :)

I should come up there when it gets warmer and we could sew all day long. Okay, I know you don’t yet know much about sewing, and it’s not like I’m a genius with the hobby either, but we could put our creativity together and get some gorgeous new slipcovers made. We could even make pillows to coordinate. Seriously, feel free to take me up on the offer once you get settled, and once you have a bit of money to let you shop at the fabric store. I’d love to do this with you. Did I ever tell you that my first sewing project (a major one that is) was making these fancy draperies for my youth minister’s wife’s formal living room? Yep. I figured that if my grandma and mom could sew, it must be in the blood, so I volunteered to help her without really knowing much at all about patterns or anything. But they turned out beautifully. This could be fun, and I’d promise not to bring any contraband chocolate. =)

Beautiful place! No way I’d let you sneak peek into my house – ha ha – It’s an old farm house that even when clean looks old. But, for the moment, it’s home.

You’re blessed. You’re a beautiful lady with beautiful kids and a beautiful house to boot!

(Hi, I’m Cyndy, I’m new, etc.) =)
The house is beautiful, and I love the sunken living room!
Couldn’t you get the built-in furniture reupholstered?

by cyndy on April 1, 2008 at 5:56 am. #

your house has everything i want in a house and more. i’ll be moving in with you next month. that’s okay, right?

by holly on April 1, 2008 at 1:30 pm. #

What lovely windows Kim! Are you glad to be settled?

by Sue on April 1, 2008 at 2:53 pm. #

I’m in love already. I think the sunken living room rocks. reupholstering is easy to pay someone else to do! note isaid pay someone else . . . I don’t even know how to thread a needle so I wouldn’t even attempt such a thing. Congratulations!
