Where, Oh Where?

by Kym on April 29, 2008

Did my camera go?

It used to be another appendage. An extension of myself. But in the chaos of sickness, moving, then more sickness (gah!), it seems to have been tucked away in some remote corner of our new house. I miss it. I miss that feeling of capturing a moment and freezing it in time. I miss sharing that moment with those who otherwise would have no access to it. I miss doing before and after shots of my homemaking endeavors. I miss showing off my successes and poking fun at my flops. I miss taking a break every now and again from long meandering posts in which I struggle to find meaning.

With a picture? There isn’t that same striving. The meaning I seem driven to seek with my words can sometimes be expressed more clearly with a simple picture. A thousand words indeed. There is something restful in posting a slew of pictures. Cute candid shots of my darling girls. A view of the rural lanscape here that this city girl is slowly becoming acclimated to. The prideful boasting after domestic success of one form or another has been achieved.

And there isn’t that awkwardness I sometimes feel as I reach for the right words and feel them wriggle out of my grasp. There isn’t the brow furrowed worry over my annoyingly formal style of prose that I simply can’t seem to shake.

There’s something to be said for simple visual stimulation.

So prepare dear readers, to do a little less reading than usual this week. My life is poised on the cusp of so very much change, and I want to record that here in as vivid a way as possible.

If nothing else, it’ll help motivate me to clean up this mess.

You know, I was just thinking today that I haven’t used my camera much lately.
I think I’m quite intimidated by others who seem so much better at photography than I am. I know, it shouldn’t matter.

As a kid, I swore I’d take as many pictures of my younger kids as I did of the older ones. Whoops.

Hmmmm. This sounds like some sort of an explanation for fewer posts out of you this week. I’m not sure I like it. Now I’m allowed to cut back on blogging, but I’m not too sure I like the idea of you cutting back. Lost camera? Sheeesh.

Totally unrelated to your post, but I wanted to tell you that your comment on my foot post made me laugh for at least twenty minutes. A taste for flesh, indeed. Bwa-ha-ha-ha-ha. :>

Hopefully you’ll find your camera in the process of cleaning up your mess! I’ve missed you!

Pictures are awesome. I have to re-learn how to get them on my computer.

I hope you are able to locate your camera soon. I still have things that are “missing” since our last move :S

Sometimes (more often lately) I forget my camera. I am too busy just living in the moment. Trying to record it in my little pea brain. When I have the camera to my face I am to worried about getting the perfect shot and miss the moment.

I hear you!

Mine has been broken and I just haven’t replaced it yet. Mostly cuz I’ve been through 2 Sonys in the last year and I’m done with them and haven’t researched what I want.

I hope you find it!

Mine is all fresh out of batteries!
When I look at my photos,I feel the need to get out and do more, because I seem to take pics of the same things over and over again, lol

Losing things, especially something as precious as a camera, drives me bonkers. I hope you find it soon!

My batteries were dead when I got to my Grandma’s house.

I was heartbroken.

Then I remembered to remember it, just for me.

Thinking of you, on the cusp of change.

I am a very visual person. I love to see others pictures, so I relate. I also like to read thoughts too. I think you provide a great balance, but I really want to see more of your surroundings and those cute faces of your kids.
Good luck finding that.

i love me some photos, but girlie, you have a phenomenal way with words. i’d take your words over most people’s photos any day. :)

yes well thank bob for that. i mean really, you have gone almost a week without changing a single thing! you really should be ashamed of your stagnant ways. really. ;)

okay serious me steps in and says “just don’t deprive me of *all* your words. that would make me sad.” but yes, more pictures. kimbo pictures are good. :)

oh wait – one more thing. when you do any changing, remember to mark it new AND improved, k? k.
