Three
by Kym on May 26, 2008
At the supper table the other night, Becca spotted the water pitcher. She stood up her in chair and started flapping her arms and bouncing up and down shouting, “Watah! Watah! Watah! Watahhh!” We all laughed and Neil said to her, “What do you say?” She stopped flapping, looking at him earnestly and shouted, “I! Need! Watahhhhh!”
As for Emma, she’s going through a particularly difficult time right now. She’s coming to realize that she’s not a wee little girl anymore, and that mommy and daddy’s boundaries? They make a funny sproinging sound when pushed. She’s taking great delight in seeing what she can and can’t get away with and it’s rather exhausting. She made a fine concession this morning though. She sat herself down on my lap facing me, fixed her dark brown eyes on mine and said, “Mommy? You can be a boss if you want to. That make you happy? Good girl, Mommy.” And she proceeded to pat me on the head, kiss me on the cheek, and go off on her merry little way.
Our third child, who I am given to understand is about the size of an appleseed at this point, isn’t making much of a fuss yet. I’m feeling a bit wary though, as I miserably sick during my last pregnancy. So when the girls get up from their naps I’m going to whisk them off to town so I can stock up on healthy foods and tummy pleasing snacks.
I’m still in that head space where I do a double take every now and again as I remember I’m pregnant. It’s definitely not real yet. It never really is for me until I start to show. Alas, I still have my leftover belly from the last two rounds and I’m just wincing at the thought of someone reaching out and rubbing it. No, actually that isn’t a baby in there. That’s the extra twenty pounds I’ve been holding on to, you know…just in case of emergency. Or something.
Sigh.
Excuse me, I’m going to go revise my shopping list now.

It always takes me a long while before my pregnancies seem real. And as far as people rubbing my tummy? Just don’t even try.
Revising my grocery list? Yeah, I have indulged in way too many sweets this time around. Add to that the fact that I can’t work out due to being a high risk pregnancy … oops.

You are so colorful. I love the new blues. Slap anyone who reaches out and tries to touch you. I had strangers doing that and I wish I had. :)
I really hope that you can bypass the sickies this time. That just prolongs it so. I think your kids are so funny too. Take care and once again. Congrats to you and your family.

Yowzers! I love today’s “look”. Blues, Pinks, Orange. Gorgeous colour combos. Stick with this one for a while will ya?? I’ll visit more often if you do.
As for the preggers thing. I’m just so happy for you. I was thinking about you today and hoped you were doing well and that the sickees hadn’t set in. Do you have an acupucturist up in boony-land where you live? I saw one all through my pregnancy with Csilla and believe it’s why I never felt sick. Check it out. Email me if you want to know all about it. I LOVE it. LOVE it.
Oh. And LOL at “mommy and daddy’s boundaries? They make a funny sproinging sound when pushed.” Great writing Kim!!
xoxo hugs to you and your wee appleseed.

I’m also diggin the new look. It takes me either out growing my pants or puking for no apparent reason to make pregnancy ‘real’.

Um, pregnancy is neve real for me until I am at the beached whale stage and I. Want. It. Out!
Give all your fam an extra hug for me.

oh, that sproinging sound is all too familiar right now. Zander just turned three 3 weeks ago, but he’s pushing mommy and daddy with all his might.
i was really sick with both pregnancies, so i know what that’s like. hopefully it won’t be like that again.
i’ll cross my fingers for ya…on both counts! ;-)

First, loving the new blog look! Much “warmer” ;)
And second… if anyone rubs your belly, rub theirs back!! There is NEVER a good reason for a stranger to reach out and touch your stomach! EVER! I don’t think I ever ran into that… but I know others who have!
And the pushing boundaries thing? Yeah. That doesn’t ever really go away. Sorry about that…

Love your blog template!
Congrats on your pregnancy.
As for the tummy rubbing thing, I never understood that. But at least I got something out of it. I wrote about it and got published in a chicken soup book.;-)
But why do people who would normally not touch you decide that suddenly your stomach is public property, or a wishing stone.

Heck I’m 22 weeks and it’s still catching me by surprise. My belly will run into something and I’ll think, “WTF?… Oh yeah.”

three is many. My husband and I chanted this to each other the whole first year after we became the parents of three. I so enjoy them and some days wish it was four instead of just three. I am excited for you!
