Losing weight is fun. Clothes don’t fit quite so snug. I find myself walking with a bit more confidence. One might even observe a slight strut to my stride. Until I turn my ankle because lost poundage or no I still have all the grace of an elephant.

Yep. Colour me pink and call me a grapefruit, I was so embarrassed. Picked myself up off the ground, brushed off the gravel that had adhered itself to my sunblock lathered legs, and laughed at myself.

Becca insisted on kissing my owies. Laughter could just be a sign of shock, after all. Anyway, I dared to go out in public in a swimsuit today and it actually yielded some positive results.

I got hit on. Multiple times. By a cute blonde who had some pretty smooth moves.

Granted, he was only about six years old, but I was still flattered. He kept accidentally (ha) going too deep and having to have me haul him back in while he made eyes at me.

At the end of the evening as we were packing up he asked me, “So, what are you doing later?”

I don’t know whether to feel flattered or dirty.

Funny, cause the 6 year olds here always ask me to do cannon balls.

Sorry about the ankle. I do that A LOT.

I want to congratulate you for donning a swimsuit. I haven’t had the guts to do that ONCE this summer, no matter how high the temperature rises!

Hilarious that the little guy was hitting on you!

You are writing a book AND wearing a swimsuit AND flirting. Someday I will try to attain even one of these great feats. :)

Hey, whatever we can get, eh? ;) I remember a few years ago being hit on by a car full of high school guys, and I laughed when they suddenly saw the kids in my back seat…

I am sitting on a leather sofa in my bathing suit right now because I’m an idiot. As it gets warmer, I’ll be sorrier and sorrier that I’m sitting here. But if I get off the couch, it’s a tacit announcement that I’m ready to go to the beach. In my swimsuit. I don’t do that. So I’m sitting here until I have to get up (for food? for a potty break? ‘ti; I run out of blogs to read?) Then my son will pounce and ask, “Can we go now?” And when I’ve peeled myself off the leather (because I’m dumb), I’ll have to sigh and agree. I sigh a lot.

Yeah for going public in a swimsuit. Way to go.

That 6 year old is way advanced for his age. He knows a good thing when he’s sees it. Feel flattered.

Congrats on the success! I think confidence is the biggest hurdle! When you walk with confidence, people notice and you shine : )

I’ve been feeling extra graceful myself lately. I feel last night face first into the parking lot. Luckily I had on lots of clothes so nothing hurt to badly.

Feeling confident is a good thing. Keep talking nice to yourself.

Congrats on the weight loss, and being seen in public in a swimsuit! I haven’t done that (the swimsuit thing) in about nine years. Seriously.

you are so funny! And hey! When I taught swim lessons, you wouldn’t believe the things little kids say! While playing “Mother May I” One little boy said “Mother May I nibble at your ear!?!” He was four!

by Summer on July 28, 2008 at 11:52 pm. #

That’s hilarious! (the little boy flirting) I’m sorry to hear about your ankle, but congrats on the weight loss!! That’s so exciting!
Also, I left you something over on my blog ;)

What did you tell your suitor? Did he accept rejection gracefully or offer to split a Popsicle with you when he came back to town again?

It’s when we fall down we are thankful there is no soundtrack to our lives like in the movies. Nobody needs to hear the horn play “Waah, waah, waaahhhh” as the ground rushes up to meet knees and palms.

Fun blog.
