A Day in the Life

by Kym on September 4, 2008

As per my last post, here’s a list of what I did today. In mind-numbingly boring detail. Keep in mind I do not currently have a car and live eight miles from civilization so options are somewhat limited around here. Comments not required. I’ll write something mildly interesting later on tomorrow.

Done List

The kids slept in this morning; Emma till 8:30am and Becca till 9:00am. They’re usually both up by 7:30am so this was odd in the extreme.

Everybody fed and dressed
Read and commented on a few blogs
Checked in on Wii Fit
Ate breakfast
Kids watched their favourite morning show – Super Why on PBS
Opened curtains – ah, sweet sunshine!
Made the girls’ beds
Red and commented on a few blogs
Turned TV off after Super Why finished
Put laundry in dryer
Worked out for 25 minutes on the Wii fit (step aerobics, hula-hooping, boxing, and yoga)

Sorted out Becca’s clothes and pulled out all the too small stuff (did not cry)
Read a little
Made, served, and cleaned up lunch
Answered some emails
Changed diaper
Answered some more emails
Swept living room
Danced with girls
Storytime with girls
Swept rest of house

Pretended I know how to garden
Changed diaper
Showered, dressed, preened (date night tonight)
Packed bag for trip to babysitter’s house, got kids and self ready
Dropped kids off
Saw Journey to the Centre of the Earth with Neil
Picked kids up, gabbed a bit, drove home (sang songs in the car, because I rock like that)
Brushed kids teeth, hugged and kissed them lotsly, put them to bed
Scrubbed kitchen table and counters (did not curse while attacking hardened on Rice Krispies)
Did a load of dishes and put dishwasher through
Scrubbed bathrooms
Put away two loads of laundry
Tidied bedroom
Attempted to make sense of the chaos which is our office
Gave up and decided to read a book instead
G’night all!

WOW!!! So proud! “lotsly” made me smile big. I’m going to be very, very good tomorrow and do lots. I have lots to do. Now I’m inspired and I’m going to make a “to do” list before bed so that it’s waiting for me in the morning. And a good night to you!

THIS IS NOT POSSIBLE. This is a list of what I imagine myself doing every day. On a good day I might do 1/8th of it. But I love the reading and commenting on blogs sporadically throughout the day. That’s the way it should be done IMO.

Congratulations! You are officially a super mom in my book. Maybe I’ll try to have one of these days today. Or maybe tomorrow. If I’m feeling in the mood.

This is my kind of meandering-get-it-all-done-day! Not only did you get the “necessaries” finished, you managed some time for numero uno. Very impressive. I had similar goals for myself today. Unfortunately my balance between necessaries and numero uno were a little off kilter… Really enjoyed myself though!

I’m impressed! :) I really don’t get that much done each day… maybe I should post your list somewhere for inspiration!!

So, how was the movie? It looked exciting from the previews.

Here’s my one-day recap: went to work.

You kick butt.
Yesterday I walked in circles, put a load in the washer, did the meals, read blogs, and walked in more circles. Bad day.
Today I’ve done more! I like today better.
I love how you interspersed all of it with “changed a diaper” 57 times (yes, bad bananas) and “read and commented on blogs” through it all. My kind of girl :)

You have the word “tidied” in there an awful lot. Tryin to make me look bad?

by Tracey on September 4, 2008 at 7:56 pm. #

That’s amazing. Including the pretending to know how to garden part. I leave that up to my husband.
Way to go!

hmmmm…. now I feel guilty.
is it really possible to get ALL of that done in a day?
I love how you danced with your girls…
Deklan and I like to break it out b-boy style every now and then… he’s much cooler and can do headspins and stuff.

Wow! You are one productive chick! You’ve accomplished more than I would in days. I do like the fact that you ” read and commented on a few blogs” at least a couple of times on this list. Good job on a very productive day, Lady :-)

by GrumpyAngel on September 4, 2008 at 11:16 pm. #

Wow. What a list. If my “done” list looked like this, I’d probably go get myself an engraved plaque saying so.

by Melanie J on September 5, 2008 at 2:59 am. #

You, my friend, are simply amazing! I didn’t find this post boring at all. In fact it was very enlightening – seriously! I love seeing how other moms spend their day.

A “Done List” as opposed to a “To Do” list. I like this.

I’m so very proud of you!!!!! Also inspired by you. And grateful to know you.

by Luisa Perkins on September 5, 2008 at 12:28 pm. #

I am thinking you accomplished a ton more in a day that I do.

by Dapoppins on September 5, 2008 at 4:08 pm. #

Yowsa Kim….I can’t do anything now because I’m too tired!

by Leendaluu on September 5, 2008 at 6:25 pm. #

I’m just impressed that you didn’t curse at the Rice Krispies. That is enough for one day for the rest of us!

by Eowyn on September 5, 2008 at 8:01 pm. #
