This is for those readers who are also bloggers. If you take a look-see at my side bar area, you’ll see a few new additions. The recent posts box to feed my egomania. The Banality Box to share boring tidbits of what’s going on in my life (instead of the what’s going in my head that you get in my blog posts). The BlogHer ads which I’ve added in hopes of breaking even here (mailing out prizes and whatnot adds up, you know). And the drop down blog roll, because I like having it all tidied up like that.

It’s about the last that I’m going to blather on. You see, it’s a delicate thing, this putting up links. I’ve never had much in the way of rules or guidelines as to who I put on my blogroll. It’s mostly just a matter of it happening to occur to me that someone isn’t on there at a moment in time when I’m inclined to actually do something about it. Rather random, actually.

Well, I’m feeling so inclined at the moment and would love for you to take a peek and see if your blog is on there. I’m noticing a few that used to be aren’t anymore (lost in the great changeover, no doubt), and I know I’ve some new readers I haven’t got around to adding yet. Plus a few I deleted because they don’t say hi anymore. I’m petty and spiteful like that.

Random Requirements for Blog Roll Status

1) You must have a blog.
2) Your blog must be severely lacking in nudity and crudity.
3) You must adore me (that’s a given, I know, but stating the obvious is a quirky hobby of mine).
4) You must have commented here at least once and plan to comment again.
5) After visiting your blog I must come away with the impression that you are not evil (in the own your own blimp and fluffy white cat and want to take over the world sort of way).
6) If your playlist is on automatic play the first song must be one that my young children would not find traumatizing.
7) You must comment on this post, as I’m too lazy to sort through all my past ones to figure out who you are.
8) You must still want to be on my blog roll after having eight “musts” thrown at you.

And for those lurking in the shadows who haven’t ever, or recently, said hello, please do! I’d love to return the favour.

I’m already on there, but I just wanted to say that I was super excited when I saw that I had been wanted. It was being a mini celebrity. I know I haven’t posted a comment lately much, but I’ve been on a commenting break. Not because I don’t love all the blogs I read, but because I’ve been really busy in life, and so although I can tell myself I have enough time to read the blogs, I justify it by not commenting.

Just so you don’t think I’m lying, today I have to finish making homemade whole wheat bread, go to the library story time, go grocery shopping to two stores, go to Enrichment tonight with said bread, and still manage all my parenting/pretending to clean my house duties. But from now on I will be better at commenting anyway, and I’ll let one of the above slide.

Since my blog is so new, and I’m still trying to figure out all the details, you might not what me on your list–yet. But I do meet most of your requirements.

I absolutely “adore” you and your blog. Although I’m probably twice your age, I feel like I know you, or you know me, or something like that–you seem to put into words thoughts and ideas that I’ve had at one time or another. For the past year, I’ve been one of those shadow lurkers, but I’m starting to come out of the closet and comment here and there. I didn’t realize how important those comments were until I started my own blog. They sort of validate your existence.

I have a fluffy white dog, but I promise not to publish any more posts about him throwing up in my bed. That was really gross, I should probably delete it.

I don’t have a playlist. I haven’t figured that out yet, and probably won’t bother. And I really hate it when I’m checking out blogs at work and music starts blasting. Hard to be sneaky that way.

Sorry for the long comment. I’ll let you decide whether or not I meet your standards.

Well, I believe I meet all your requirements, but sometimes my life is even offensive to me, so I hope it will meet your standards. :) Of course your blog roll will now be 99 blogs long and I might as well just list my blog in the phone book and hope someone stumbles across it, but I’ll take any measly publicity I can take.

This post cracked me up. I sure hope my private blog is “severely lacking in nudity and crudity”. Though, I really can’t promise about the nudity part once I have this little boy. People keep telling me that wee ones quickly learn to decide whether or not they like clothes, and whether or not they will keep them on. =)
