I Love You But…

…I can’t answer your comments and it’s driving me mental! Ever since changing over to the new site I haven’t been getting comment notification emails. I have to sign on to the site here to see my comments and while that’s oh so lovely, (coming home to so many cheered me immensely) it’s really bothersome to respond to any of them. For one thing, I can’t just click reply and type away. For another, if I haven’t got your address on file I’m hooped. The new system doesn’t give me email addresses, just websites.
Now, truth be told I was never all that stupendous when it came to comment answering. I’m too much of a glutton, really. Why spend time writing an email when I can spend that time writing another blog post and get more comments? Yup, I’m selfish like that. But sometimes a comment just asks to be responded to. Or the commenter writes something really brilliant or sweet or insightful and I just really want to let them know that they, and their comment, matter to me.
So I’m sending out a plea here. Do any of you other WordPress users know how to fix this problem? I’m completely kerflummoxed. I’ve got my settings set right, but no luck.
Help please!
Look, I’m humbling myself and everything. And you know how I hate to do that.
As for the rest of you, email addresses please? Unless you don’t want me to contact you in which case picture me sticking my tongue out at you. Err…actually don’t. I’m not a person who can pull that off and look cute. It’s quite a disturbing sight, in fact.
Stay tuned for tales of my weekend adventures, including my thoughts on hospital nursing staff, food hangovers, and the lovely photographer who contributed to my quotebook who I met yesterday. And also, how it came about that Emma called her Daddy a worm.
There, that last one got you hooked (ha ha) didn’t it?
I’m off to run errands, visit the dentist for my first filling, and decide whether or not to panic over the fact that I have a houseguest arriving in less than three days.
The answer to that last? Probably yes. I find that panic helps me be productive. It’s got me whipping off a quick bit of drivel instead of attempting to write anything meaningful today. Those are precious minutes that I can use to fuel the panic as I pace about wondering where on earth to start.
I may even post before pictures to help motivate me.
Nah. That’s taking the being humble thing way too far.

Do you mean “first filling” as in first EVER filling? If so, I don’t believe you. Okay, fine I do, but only sort of.

Yeah, I’m kind of stuck on the FIRST filling thing…
I thought I was doing well with having only like four in my life. Now I think my teeth suck.
Obviously I can’t help you with the wordpress issue. You’re the one that always has to help ME with bloggy issues. So I guess you aren’ t that selfish after all…

Alright, go to your dashboard, and in the right hand corner, click settings. Then under settings, you go to discussions. The you check the box that says “email me whenever somebody leaves a comment. ”
scroll down and hit SAVE

I have the same problem with my blog, but I think it’s just a feature lacking in mobileme (apple’s hosting). Even the customer service people were clueless. Good luck. And for the record, I’m never offended if people don’t respond to my comments; just pleasantly surprised if they do.
