Time Traveling

by Kym on October 4, 2008

I was going to write something brilliant this afternoon (this afternoon being Friday – spiffy, eh? Try not to get a headache from contemplating the sheer metaphysicalness of it all). And then I was going to clickety-click on my neat sidebar thingy that lets me post date posts, but I decided not to. Not that I don’t think you’re worth the attempt, quite the contrary, but attempts at brilliance were shot down by:

1) ineptitude
2) laziness
3) the pressure! Gah! the pressure!
4) my four and two year olds girls’ decision to spend much of the day playing a game I believe they call Let’s Shriek Like Mad and See Who Can Implode One of Mommy’s Ear Drums First (it’s a long name but the acronym is even worse somehow).

In reference to number three though. Wow. You see, someone went and Stumbled my page apparently. Suddenly my statcounter was lit up like the face of a thirty year old woman discovering chocolate for the first time. 395. 395 unique visitors yesterday. This is four times my average. And they were from all over the world too, which was something even Neil (my non-blog reading hubby) could appreciate. I loaded up the country page for him and showed him all the little flags and he looked suitably impressed. There were even one or two countries on there that we, in our mutual geographic ignorance, had never heard of.

I got a bit giddy over it all, truth be told. Granted, a sort of giddiness that involved as much panic as pleasure.

Only three of the new visitors made any sort of comment (thanks you three!), and I had one of those hand slapping forehead moments over the fact that my most recent post was deeply personal, rather sad, and very, very difficult even for good friends to comment on.

Timing. My ever present affliction of cursedly awful timing.

Still, life is life. We can’t dictate our moods to suit potential happenstances, so it’s probably best to adopt a more easy going attitude than the one that’s instinctive to me. So…yes…bye-bye panic and neurotic worryings over what complete strangers think.

Oh dear, I’ve got that song in my head now. “You say goodbye, but I say hello…Hello! Helloooo!”

My subconscious likes to mock me in song. Nice.

Anyway, I’m going to have to worry from a distance because as I mentioned at the beginning of this post I’m writing to you from the past. Oh yes. I’ve got skills. I’ll be returning in the future (Monday-ish) at which time I will probably write about events inspired by what is currently the future as of Monday will be the past, and at some yet to be determined time will be the present.

Admit it. Your head hurts just a little bit, doesn’t it?

My mind is now playing the theme song from The Twilight Zone. Mockingly.

Let me know when they come out with a book titled Lobotomies for Dummies, okay?

Really, my head hurts a lot, although that’s not only from your past will be present once was future to the 12th power.

Awesome that you’re getting all the viewers!! Excellent! I’m off to read about what stumbling is (one of my favorite food blogs got stumbled or whatever, too and now she has almost a thousand views per day and loads of comments. Famousness. That’s what I call it, and you’re headed straight for it!)

Wow, I feel special of having known you (well for two months through blogging) before you became famous. Then people will say, wow, Kym is famous, and I will say, “Yes, she’s stuck to her small time roots people like me as well.” And they will really know that I am just bragging. And I will be.

Also, I’m impressed with your post-posting abilities. I must learn how to do this because I always have inspiration to write all at once, so I really want to write several posts all at the same time, and then the well goes dry and nothing comes for days.

I love the post dating option, don’t you. I even already wrote a post in the middle of Nov. And my mind mocks me in song too and now today I have your songs stuck in my head- or was that yesterday? or perhaps even next week? ;)
Love ya, have fun and see you whenever you return to the present!

Yeah, I don’t really get the stumbleupon thingy either. But I’ll just say COOL. I think people probably really liked your post. But who cares what I think? I can’t even think right now because my head is still trying to figure out how your doing this time traveling thing…

Oh the shrieking. I can hear it now. No, really. It’s the Milton version.

Have a great weekend.

I always appreciate a stumble, but boy does it put the pressure on! And I’m often surprised at what people choose to stumble from my blog. Makes me rethink what I put out there sometimes.

I was just joking the other day with my brother that I get the highest hits on my blog the days that I write the lamest post. It’s like a guarantee that 70+ people will never be back. And when I write something I think is brilliant, only 10 people drop in. It’s just sweet irony, you know? I figure people find a post they connect with if it’s meant to be. Good luck; I’m sure many will be back. :)

I hope you are having a great weekend! That is so get GREAT that you are getting all these visitors. And you’re on your way to being internationally renowned!!!! Yaye! Can I say I knew you when? :-) I wouldn’t worry about your post. The reason I like visiting your blog is because you are so real. If you’ve been always little Miss Sunshine, I would have probably gone , “Hmmm — a little fake there.” and wouldn’t have been a fan.

You are brilliant.

Sorry if they do.

I believe I was one who commented on your deeply personal post, and I want you to know that my sister emailed it to me because of what I had been through. She thought it would help me to see what someone else who has been through it was feeling. So, thank you for your honest post.
