Three

My baby turned three yesterday. I watched as her strawberry blonde frizz bounced about in time with the ripping of the wrapping paper. She was meticulous at times. Insisting on throwing the ripped off pieces out of sight behind her before she would go for the next tear. One present would have been enough. She would have stopped and played right there and been content. There’s a lesson there I think. But we continued to draw her attention to the others.
She paused to read a new book at one point, after graciously offering one to her sister first. Another lesson. I’ve never met such a generous child and it amazes me to realize I’ve helped in the raising of her. I knelt down in front of our bed, camera at the ready. Wanting to toss it aside almost as much as I wanted to capture her sweetness for all to see.
I tried to find the right words. I felt that if I could, the overwhelming pressure stretching at my heart might be relieved. Having children has taught me that sweetness and love can be so exquisitely intense as to cause a sort of pain. The words don’t seem to exist though, and I’m glad of it. As I told my darling child how much I love her, I felt my capacity for that love expand. I feel bigger inside somehow. My beautiful girls…how much they’ve taught me about love…

Gorgeous! The first video was soooo sweet ‘thank you be-cca’ AWW :) And I love the way she looked from the puppy to the wrapping paper several times before coming to the conclusion that it was the PUPPY she wanted to keep and hug ;)
I love little kids’ voices but I must say your voice is very sweet and much softer than I had imagined. I love hearing bloggess’ voices!

There is something about them turning three, a rite of passage almost. No longer a baby, but a little girl. When Princess turned three in August, it was bittersweet!
Your girls are so, so, so cute! How sweet Emma was, wanting to help Becca. Becca hugging the little puppy was so adorable! Such precious little girls, you are a fortunate mommy indeed! Thank you for sharing their sweetness with us!

Congrats to the family on this milestone! My daughter, turning 3 this summer, is sporting the EXACT same pajamas in today’s post on our blog. You have great taste!
Today my son said to me, “I love you mommy and all you do for me”. I wrapped my arms around him and thanked him, but secretly wished I’d had the video camera to document it! Someday (when they are teenagers) we will be especially thankful for these moments.
