The Great Office Cleanout of 2010 – The Reveal!

by Kym on March 15, 2010

I am tired.

And looking at the after shots, I’m not sure they fully reflect the amount of blood, sweat and tears that went into the process. Well, not so much blood and tears, but a very great deal of sweat. Some of those boxes were HEAVY.

Not only is the room generally tidy, dusted, and vacuumed, but every drawer is organized. Every paper sorted and filed. And all boxes are neatly labelled and stacked in the closet.

The upshot of all this? I now know where EVERYTHING is. I’m going to enjoy this for a couple days before mental entropy takes over…

So I kind of knew the carpet was green in here, but I'd forgotten there was so much of it. Wow.

Note: The junk was not just moved out of camera shot, but painstakingly (more pain than staking) sorted through.

This area still needs much work. Neil's makeshift desk needs to be moved, methinks.

My desk. All drawers and cupboards are organized.

The view, unobscured by junk!

Filing cabinets. With actual files filed in them!

Being able to find things is lovely, as is walking through a room without tripping over miscellaneous debris, but THIS is what made the office clean out worthwhile.

Next project? The girls’ bedroom closet. I’m kind of scared to go in there, truth be told.

It looks great, Kim!

Aaah! My girls (the two that share a room) cleaned their closet yesterday. I forgot the thing was carpeted. It’s a stunner – and the best part? I didn’t do ANYTHING! But now I think I should go vacuum. Just for fun.

I’m still giggling over the little bits of hilarity you added in with the pictures (more pain than staking…hahaha!) It looks awesome, Kim! Wow! You really worked your butt off.

You go girl!! This looks fantastic (and not only that, IS fantastic, from the sounds of it — the drawers are organized, too??) You’re an inspiration!

It looks so warm and inviting! *Sigh*. I need more motivation to do my own house. It looks absolutely terrible, where it’s so bad that I feel like I could hardly make a difference, so why bother? I know that’s not true though.

I want to come visit!

Great job, Kim. I know how much work goes into that.

Beautiful!!

I haven’t mentioned this before but I am really loving your new site!! Did you decide to do a blog makeover while you were cleaning out your office? : )

Wow Kim, it looks fantastic! Great job! I would love to hang out up there and write. Love the pics of the girls reading, totally worth the cleanout ;) Good luck on the closets!

Just a suggestion…but try to do the girls’ closets when they aren’t right there, at least if you are planning to get rid of things. When I used to try to organize my brothers’ playroom, everything instantly became their favorite, made it hard to get rid of stuff that they didn’t actually need and never played with. ;)

What a fun series of blog posts, the before & after.

The last picts are my faves, too. Girls snuggled in together reading.

Way to go, Kim!!
