June is Not For Rain
by Kym on June 11, 2010
June is not for rain
June is for the buttery sun, melted
For wading in its warm yellow puddles
June is for sticky sweet
blossoms and popsicle stains
For the whirring thrum
of insect wings
And sand in our everything
and our everywhere
June is for forgetting January
For gently baking ourselves
Till done.

Yes, yes for baking ourselves til done – but only just nearly so. It’s for campfires and s’mores, lazy days by the pool, wading in the creek and all the fresh, deliciously plump strawberries one can eat.

Currently, June is for overcast weather, perfect for cuddling and watching a movie. This year, it’s also for wedding planning :)

I agree. June is not for rain. And yet? It keeps raining! :) Pretty poem, lovely.

Love the new design! June is for unwinding after the school year. It is for cool mountain evenings after warm days.

June is not for rain
June is for the buttery sun
Can’t really beat that, especially with our weather this year. We haven’t even had a day over 75 yet … and that is a record?!?

I agree – June is not for rain. Sadly, June itself hasn’t gotten wind of that here in Vancouver this year. Although I’m sort of hoping we may finally turn the corner.
As for what June is for? Strawberries. I hope they’re ripe soon. :)

June is for travel to far off places and stretching in ways we didn’t know we needed to stretch.
Well done, Kim.

Whoa–things have changed since I was here last!
June is acting like April around here–lots and lots of drizzly rain. Part of me hates it, but another part is enjoying it, because we didn’t get much of a spring.
Very nice poem, Kim, I can’t do poetry if my life were on the line.
