Wouldn't it be nice if you could just do an office makeover in an hour like they do on television. As if it only took them an hour. Before picture - cluttered office space. After picture - perfectly organized, tastefully decorated space. Sigh. Of course they didn't have teething babies and hungry toddlers, etc. etc. etc.
You have a wonderful room to work with. Good luck with the process.

I read this and I was going to send a message asking for a picture of that view... until I saw it there on the bottom! And what a beautiful writing desk you have! I loved my house when we first bought it, because I could see 'potential.' Unfortunately, the reality with 4 small kids is 'unrealised potential.' It would depress me so much looking at the ugly things- the fireplace, with it's odd concrete ledge jutting out, the 80s kitchen and smelly old bathrooms. But we have changed a few light fixtures, painted a room, painted the kitchen cabinets. To cheer me up, I focus on the new light fixtures or the fresh paint, and remember how much WORSE it was! And I also remind myself how much I do love this house. I hugged the walls when we first moved in! It will be beautiful one day. Great post, anyway. I can so relate.

The way you described your house reminds me of Ronald Weasley's house in Harry Potter (you like those books, right?). It sounds so cozy and perfect for raising a family.

You make me happy.

The end.
